Sugar Sugar! This One’s For You! (Video)

Today’s entertainment roster:
Original Song Video: “My Feet and My Mind”

Thank you for enjoying my music!

Thanks to my friends, who I don’t really know very well because I’m a little shy sometimes, with the band Sugar! This is one of the most talented groups I’ve seen, and I spent years discovering talent and going to conventions where, along with other FM radio Program Directors, we’d see the whole process; from unknown to famous.

It’s one thing to assemble a group of extremely talented people; another for them to have a unified vision, show up and be dedicated; still another to make money doing it, enough for everyone in the band; but probably the biggest leap – reciprocated love. The audience reaction, having done all of the above, is still nebulous … but when Sugar starts a show the dance floor fills up immediately and stays that way the entire night!

As a fan, I can easily put aside my “critique” glasses and just have fun!

But as a musician, one night I came home from a Sugar show and couldn’t resist but write a song about them!

Like I say in the song … “You’ve got a happiness gatling gun … and I’m gonna dance ‘till I’m good and done!”

There’s also a reference to Sugar in my song “New Day,” which is published on “Share The Moon.” The band, seven to ten or more pieces, through sheer funkiness, happiness and volume, is a sure cure for the blues, and that’s personal testimony. I would like to publicly thank them for what they do.

When I was a little boy I remember sitting watching TV with my mom; it was late but there was a performance by Bob Dylan, just playing guitar and singing, a harmonica around his neck, she was going to let me stay up and see. Thanks for that, mom! I remember asking her – I was befuddled – “Mom, you mean these people get paid just to sing?”

I’ve come a long way, and am certain in my older age, art and performance done right can be very important to alot of people.

After the video I’ll add my lyrics, below.

My Feet And My Mind

I meant to say thanks but got lost in your eyes
For a moment it made time slow in my mind
For a moment the moon fell right out of the sky
Give me your hand! Don’t be surprised!

– Shiny and happy, I’m glad I dropped by!
So much fun! Too much and I’m gonna die!
But go right to heaven in the front of the line
I know life is good when I watch you walk by!

What kind of girl gets up on the stage
Dancing like she just broke out of a cage!
– The rhythm pushes my pressure gauge
‘Till my feet and my mind just disengage!

What’s the secret to guaranteed fun
Bell bottom blues and hot cross buns!
– You got a happiness gatling gun!
And I’m gonna dance, ‘till I’m good and done!

– Shiny and happy! I’m glad I dropped by!
I know I’m pro-ba-bly just-another-guy
But for a moment the moon fell out of the sky
You should know life is good when I watch you fly!

(bridge:)

Fly me to the moon, like a rocket
The best anti-depressant on the market!
– Here’s a me-ssage for everyone
Tell ‘em I died of havin’ too much fun!

– Shiny and happy, magic carpet ride!
I get lost in the crowd; my feet start to glide
They do what they do, so I just abide
– You bring the magic; I’ll take the ride!

You bring the peanut butter; I’ll bring the cup
I’m jus’ havin’ fun like an innocent pup
But I feel guilty like smokin’ a cigarette
‘Bout my business with a girl – I ne-ver met!

Don’t get me wrong this ain’t no love song
It doesn’t mean anything so just go a-long
But let’s share loud music together again
It makes me belong, not care where I’ve been

– Shiny and happy, magic carpet ride!
I get lost in the crowd; my feet start to glide
They do what they do, so I just abide
– You bring the magic; I’ll take the ride!

– Shiny and happy! I’m glad I dropped by!
I know I’m pro-ba-bly just-another-guy
But for a moment the moon fell out of the sky
You should know life is good when I watch you fly!
